Book for June 2011

Elise says thanks to everybody who came out to discuss Main Street. The consensus was we needed a cheat sheet of characters to make the book more readable.

We chose a more juicy, summer read for June, called The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. We're meeting on June 22 at Linda's at 7:00. See you there!

Main Street - book for May 2011

See how I can do with this book! Have it downloaded to my iPad. Have not started reading it yet. Have heard of this book through the years.
Main Street by Sinclair Lewis- The book is about small town life and Lewis actually based it on Sauk Centre. Their high school team name is still the Main Streeters today. Other small towns in Minnesota banned the book because its portrayal of small town life is not too flattering.

Here is literature guide.

Book club set for Thursday, May 5 @ Elise's. Those with e-readers, the book is a free download!

Staggerford - book for April 2011

The book for March 2011 was Staggerford, by Jon Hassler. I have yet to finish this book! Here is link to article on Jon Hassler.

One could say I am obsessed with Albert Einstein. I would like to know how would our current educational system handle a student like Einstein. I have the Einstein quote of the day on my google home page.

I have a biography on good ol Albert, but it's much too detailed on his science 'stuff' for me to understand. So I thought this book would be a fun one for our book club. Was not met with accolades.

Here is a link from NPR that got me interested in the book.
